BUZZNET STORY TELLER'S GROUP ... ASSIGNMENT #24
For the Assignement #24 we are to discuss what traditions or something about our New Years Eve celebrations in our country. My country is the United States. I did a little digging and found this very interesting information on when exactly celebrations of the new year began:

The Back Story of New Years Eve in America
In both the Gregorian calendar, currently used in the United States, and the Julian calendar, which was used until 1752 in the British colonies, the last day of the year is December 31. In Europe, the mid-winter period was traditionally associated with feasting and parties. In the early years of the American colonies and within the United States, this type of celebration was often frowned upon, particularly by religious communities.
Around the start of the 1900s, New Year's Eve celebrations in America started to appear. The first Ball drop in Times Square was held in 1907. Around the same time, special events to welcome the New Year started to be organized on January 1.
My New Years Eve
Honestly, I know many people celebrated the coming of 2013 with parties and spending time with loved ones. Well this one was not so eventful for me. You guys are like family so I will tell you what went on. I was scheduled to go over to my boyfriends house for some New Years Celebrations. Well, that day my body was aching and I just felt HORRIBLE. He got upset at me cause I was unable to come over...so I spent 2013 New Years coming in alone. I had my roommate here, but I slept all day and most of the night becuase I was under the weather. This ending of the 2012 story was indeed not happy. Of course, with the love me and Andrew share for one another is much stronger now and we did make up and we are doing great as always. Andrew had a horrible ending to his 2012 year which caused him to get stressed and kind of get upset at me, which honestly...I don't blame him. He's gone through so much and still ends up coming out stronger than ever.
I know that wasn't the nicest or best New Years...but honestly, my 2013 rang in just right. It's amazing now and I still am excited to see what 2013 has for me. :) I can't wait!!!
How was your New Years Eve?
xoxo
